Iona is not the easiest place in the world to get to however there is little doubt that it is well worth the effort!
Essentially from Glasgow you have to get to the Isle of Mull. (To see where Mull lies in relation to the rest of Scotland click "View regional map" above.) There are options for how you do this depending on whether you are coming by public transport or by car. Once on Mull your route takes you across the island to Fionnphort which is located on the south west tip of Mull. From Fionnphort Iona is just a five minute ferry ride.
On the right of this page there are links to instructions for getting here either by public transport or by car. Please note that whilst we have done our best to make these notes as accurate as possible, getting here is entirely your responsibility!
If you are travelling by car you will have to leave it in Fionnphort. Only residents cars are allowed onto Iona. For free parking you should park beside The Columba Centre. The parking by the jetty is not free. Our recommendation is to drop your luggage by the jetty then take your car up to the free parking by The Columba Centre. (About 3 minutes walk away.)
The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the jetty on Iona. Please call us from Fionnphort if you would like the hotel car to pick up your luggage.
