The St Columba Hotel has teamed up with The Princess Royal Trust for Carers with the intention of providing much needed breaks for carers. The Princess Royal Trust for Carers is the largest provider of comprehensive carers support services in the UK. Through it’s unique network of 129 independently managed Carer’s Centres and interactive websites, Carers.org and YC.Net. The trust currently provides quality information, advise and support services to 290,000 carers, including just over 15,000 young carers.
A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, addiction or disability.
A young carer is a child or young person under the age of 18 carrying out significant caring tasks and assuming a level of responsibility for another person, which would normally be taken by an adult.
It is often difficult for carers to get the breaks they need due to financial constraints and to their commitments as a carer.
We are offering The Princess Royal Trust for Carers discounted rates at specific times of year with the intention of providing carers with a proper break. We are also committed to raising funds for donation to the Trust for the purpose of funding breaks for carers.
Please remember, even the smallest of donations will help! If you would like to donate you can either drop your donation at reception or send us a cheque made out to The Princess Royal Trust for Carers. Donations are passed directly to the trust and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. (Please ask us for a gift aid form.)
