If however you would like to know a little about what is on offer on this beautiful island then the following might help.
Walking:- Finding somewhere beautiful to walk to on Iona is not difficult. There are many stunning beaches with hardly anyone on them. We sell various maps of the island at reception and can advise on walks. The Iona Community runs a Pilgrimage on a Tuesday. Ask at reception for details. If you would prefer an individually guided walk then please contact Jean Black on 01681 700 605.
Golf:- There is an 18 hole golf course at the south end of the island. Limited facilities, no green fees and plenty of sheep. At reception you will be able to borrow clubs and balls and there is a course map available for a small donation.
Bikes:- Bikes are a great way to explore Iona. Finlay Ross general store located in the village also rents bikes by the day and half day. Tel. 01681 700 357.
Arts and Crafts:- For an island with a population of less than 120 there are a surprising number of very talented people living here! There is a good selection of art and craft shops on Iona including the recently opened Columba Steadings located oposite the hotel which houses Oran Creative Crafts, “Aosdana” silversmiths and "Issy on Iona" for a range of handmade knitwear. In addition Iona Craft shop can be found in the village and Iona Pottery and Gallery oposite the Abbey.
