Organic Garden Tours

We’re delighted to offer weekly guided tours of our organic garden here at St Columba Hotel.

These short, informal tours give you the chance to step behind the scenes and discover how the garden plays an important role in life at the hotel and on the island. Whether you’re staying with us or simply visiting the island, the garden tours offer a chance to see how we bring together local produce, sustainability, and island life. We’re proud of what we grow here and look forward to sharing it with you.

About the Garden

Our organic garden is at the heart of what we do. Carefully tended throughout the year, it provides a wide range of produce that is used across the hotel and beyond.

From fresh herbs, fruit, and vegetables for our kitchen, to botanicals used in our St Columba gin and rum, the garden helps shape the flavours you experience during your stay. We also keep beehives, producing honey for the hotel, and grow flowers that are used throughout the building.

The garden is also a pollinator-friendly space, supporting bees and other wildlife, and contributing to the wider environment of the island.

What to Expect

Led by our gardening team, the tours offer a relaxed introduction to how the garden works. You’ll learn about:

  • How we grow and care for our produce

  • What’s in season at different times of year

  • How the garden supports our kitchen and Larder products

  • The role of bees and pollinators

  • The challenges and rewards of growing on Iona

It’s a simple and enjoyable way to connect with the land and better understand where your food comes from.
